MS Catalyst: How to learn digitisation and transformation

30. April 2021

Digitization affects (almost) every company – processes are being rethought and redesigned everywhere. Entire industries and sectors are also changing as a result. If you want to keep up, you have to jump on the digitization train. Three 'goreLadies' have dealt with how to plan and implement digital transformation sustainably: Tina Zembacher, Jana Lukic and Nora Fröhlich are now officially MS Catalyst-certified.

How to learn digitisation and transformation

Digitisation affects (almost) every company – processes are being rethought and redesigned everywhere. Entire industries and sectors are also changing as a result. If you want to keep up, you have to jump on the digitisation train. Three “goreLadies” have figured out how to plan and implement digital transformation sustainably: Tina Zembacher, Jana Lukic and Nora Fröhlich are now officially MS Catalyst-certified.

“The next few years will be decisive as to whether a company manages to make existing business processes and services competitive,” says Senior Consultant Nora Fröhlich. The challenge, however, is that companies often do not know how or where to start their digital transformation. “This is where Microsoft Catalyst comes in – providing step-by-step, industry-specific transformation plans.”

Your transformation strategy with Microsoft Catalyst

MS Catalyst is based on the “design thinking” method – creatively coming up with user-oriented solutions or new products – but goes one step further by relying on the “IDEA” model. IDEA stands for Inspire, Design, Empower and Achieve. This model is intended to successfully develop and implement new corporate strategies or offers.

The IDEA phases

In the “inspire” phase you start to find the right transformation strategy. This is defined and prioritised in an envisioning workshop, with brainstorming taking place creatively. Next up is the “design” phase, where the business and technology implications of the transformation are discussed. This quantifies the ROI and the financial benefits, which include sales growth or cost savings. The third phase is “empowering”: here other people in the company should be made aware of the value of the restructuring through a (visual) demo of the solutions. This promotes acceptance and ensures successful coordination. The last phase is about implementing the vision: the resources required for implementing the strategy and carrying out the cross-departmental transformation of the company are made available, their success is measured – and the transformation starts, supported by a strategic plan for every step.

the benefits of MS Catalyst

Nora Fröhlich sums it up: “With MS Catalyst, Microsoft not only offers a strong technical platform (Dynamics 365, MS Power Platform, Azure, etc.) but also business process-oriented templates to support companies through the transformation.” These plans can be adapted to companies on a granular level – and Managing Director Tina Zembacher also draws the conclusion: “MS Catalyst is really a helpful support during digitisation and especially during the placement of Dynamics products tailored to the company. With Catalyst, nothing stands in the way of the future!”
